Fire Place is a small landscape pavilion set on the shores of Anna Lake at Carraig Ridge, overlooking the Rocky Mountains and Alberta Foothills. Designed by Young Projects, the structure is a playful interpretation of the traditional log cabin that exaggerates texture for a contemporary result. “We wanted to create a thick surface that envelops the warmth of the fire but allows light to slip through to the outside,” says Bryan Young, Principal and Founder of Young Projects. “Rather than isolating you from the environment, Fire Place provides moments of oblique views back to the landscape, framing their surroundings in unexpected ways.”
